My Scar Buddy

I’ve been longing to meet the person with the same scars as me. I knew I’d have to be best friends with them the second I found them. Well, I came out of an appointment at Mayo and my parents introduced me to my “scar buddy.” I almost sobbed right then and there honestly.

My Scar Buddy!

She had a concerning bump that her doctors at home thought was benign and she really liked and trusted them. She noticed and felt it growing, her brother pushed her to seek an opinion at Mayo Clinic. Mayo scheduled surgery just days later. She rang the bell completing her radiation treatment on October 18th, the day after I met her.

We text often and she’s quite the amazing, strong person. She’s exactly who I needed and I’m so grateful to have her by my side.

May we all be so fortunate to meet the people we long to see,

Kam
