This week, I had the honor of getting on stage with my mom and Jeff, to say thank you to everyone at Roche who ensures diagnostic testing is available for patients like me.

This followed my mother’s video sharing our story with Roche a few months ago, and it was amazing to say thank you personally. But also, I have to say, when Jeff proposed bringing me on stage I just cracked up!
I was even able to talk to a couple of those people, and it was awesome to learn more about the work, and thank them. I learned working in healthcare tech, the people out in the field, put in long days, working 12-16 hours without always being able to see the impact they have on people. I hope that seeing a patient like me was a reminder. They’re just good people man. Roche has a Mayo team that works on the very machines I rely on. That’s personal. Every role at Roche has touched my life. I wouldn’t have even known I had cancer without them.
I even got to meet the lovely woman who was dealing with a years long health crisis, and my mom shared our story and nudged her to go to Mayo. She got in, and she is feeling so good now. And the wild part?! The same doctor who took out my wisdom teeth also did her life bettering surgery! Meeting her was, emotional. Seeing her joy too, and realizing the impact of our shared journey, was just insane.

This is the woman who showed me how to believe. Seeing my mother watch it all come together… there’s nothing like it. Just love this picture, and the love behind it.
These humans change lives. And I’m living proof of that. Because of them, I have more chapters to write. And I’m going to live every minute of it.
Thank you Roche,
Kam
